Privacy Policy

What TurboDL, its extensions and this website do with your data.

Last updated: November 1, 2026

TurboDL is developed by AndryaThr ("we"). This policy covers the desktop app (turbodl), the command line (turbodl-cli), the MCP server (turbodl-mcp), the Chrome and Firefox extensions, and this website.

In short: TurboDL has no account, no telemetry, no analytics and no advertising. What it stores stays on your computer.

Data stored on your computer

TurboDL keeps these files in its configuration folder (%APPDATA%\turbodl or ~/.config/turbodl), and nowhere else:

FileContent
config.json, profilesYour settings
downloads.jsonThe download list: links, file names, sizes, statuses
history.jsonlStatistics: domain (never the full link), file name, size, speed, dates, outcome
<file>.part.turbodlResume state of an unfinished download
updates/Update packages while they are installed

Passwords, session cookies and authorization headers are kept in memory only: they are never written to these files nor to any log. Uninstalling TurboDL and deleting this folder removes all of it.

Network connections

TurboDL connects only to:

  • the servers of the files you download, with the links, cookies and credentials you or your browser give it. Those servers see your IP address and request, as with any download, under their own privacy policies;
  • turbo-dl.herilanto.com, to read the list of published versions and download updates. This happens at startup when Settings → General → Updates is on (the default) and when you check by hand; turn the setting off to stop it. The request carries the usual technical data (IP address, the TurboDL/<version> user agent) and nothing else.

TurboDL sends no usage data, crash report or identifier to us.

Browser extensions

To hand a download over, the extensions read the download's link, file name, referrer and user agent, and, if you allow it, the cookies of that site (permissions downloads, cookies and the optional <all_urls>). They send them only to the TurboDL app on your computer, through the browser's native messaging; nothing is sent to us or to any other server. The details, permission by permission, are in the Extension Privacy Policy.

MCP server

turbodl-mcp runs on your computer and answers the AI client you connect it to. What that client does with the answers (file names, sizes, statistics) is governed by its own privacy policy.

This website

The site uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party resources. Your theme choice is kept in your browser's local storage.

Like any web server, the server hosting this site and the downloads keeps technical access logs (IP address, date, requested page or file, browser user agent, referrer) for security and operation. They are kept for a limited time, are not used to identify you, and are not shared, except where the law requires it.

Your rights

Since we hold no personal data besides these server logs, there is usually nothing to access or delete. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the European Union), you may ask about, or ask for the deletion of, data concerning you through the contact below.

Children

TurboDL is a general-purpose tool and collects no data from anyone, children included.

Changes

We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the latest version. Significant changes are announced on this site.
