Getting started

Installation

Ready-to-use packages for Windows and Linux, and the browser extensions.

Packages

The Downloads page lists every published version, the latest first:

  • turbodl-<version>-windows-x64.zip: turbodl.exe, turbodl-cli.exe, turbodl-mcp.exe;
  • turbodl-<version>-linux-x64.tar.gz: the same programs for Linux;
  • turbodl-chrome-<version>.zip and turbodl-firefox-<version>.zip: the extensions.

Extract the archive into a folder of your own (for example C:\Users\<you>\Apps\TurboDL or ~/.local/bin). No runtime is needed.

Official releases and nightly builds

  • Official releases (0.2.0) are the recommended versions; the app offers them as updates.
  • Nightly builds (0.2.0-nightly.20261101.a1b2c3d) are test builds of the latest code, published for testers before the matching official version. They bring the newest changes first but may be unstable; the app never installs them as updates, so install a nightly by hand and go back to an official release the same way.

Each file comes with its SHA-256 checksum. To check a download:

# Windows (PowerShell)
Get-FileHash turbodl-0.2.0-windows-x64.zip
# Linux
sha256sum turbodl-0.2.0-linux-x64.tar.gz

Tip

Start turbodl once: it automatically registers the native host used by the browser extensions.

Later versions are installed from the application itself: see Updates.

Linux dependencies of the desktop app

The interface uses OpenGL, and GTK for the folder picker:

sudo apt install libgtk-3-0 libxkbcommon0 libgl1

The CLI and the MCP server have no system dependency.
