Frequently asked questions
Short answers to common questions.
Why does my download use a single thread?
The server does not accept byte ranges, or the request is not a GET. TurboDL then downloads in a single stream; the details window shows "Resume: not supported".
Are more threads always faster?
No. Beyond the limit of your connection or what the server grants per connection, adding threads brings nothing, and some servers drop too many connections. The statistics show the average speed by number of threads: you will see what works for you.
Resuming started over from the beginning
The remote file changed (different ETag or modification date): TurboDL starts from zero so as not to mix two versions. See Pause and resume.
"login page received" error
The site requires you to be signed in. Start the download from the browser (extension), or add cookies or credentials: see Authentication.
Network error "tcp connect error … (os error 10060)"
The server does not answer new connections: it may limit the number of simultaneous connections. Lower the threads (4 for example), then click Retry: the download resumes where it stopped.
Where are my files?
In the profile's folder, in the category sub-folder: Downloads/Video/…. The folder button opens it.
Are my passwords saved?
No. Secrets stay in memory. In profiles, use ${VARIABLE} and password_env.
How do I change the language or the theme?
Settings → Appearance: English, French or Spanish; system, light or dark theme; five accent colors. See Appearance.
How do I update TurboDL?
The app checks for new versions at startup and offers to download and install them. See Updates. Every version is also on the Downloads page.
